Contrary to popular misconception, meditation is not simply sitting cross-legged on a yoga mat chanting “Ohm” (unless that’s how you prefer to meditate!) Meditation is an exercise in mindfulness and relaxation, whatever that means to you. Whether you choose to sit quietly and focus on your breathing, or lie down and check in with each muscle, or go for a walk with your mind on each step, meditation offers a host of physical and psychological benefits. Just a few mindful moments a day can reduce anxiety, depression, inflammation, and pain and improve cognitive function and quality of life–and it’s a habit you can take with you anywhere! To learn more about meditation and what type might work best for you, check out the handy infographic below from Club Woodside and Ghergich & Co.
